KitchenAid Accolade 400 Mixer
Product Review
The KitchenAid Accolade 400 mixer can be one of the handiest items a lupus patient with joint problems can ever have. If you've ever tried to mix a batch of cookies that has a thick batter (such as molasses cookies), or even a simple batch of biscuits, can appreciate a machine that can whip merringue, knead dough or blend a variety of liquids and batters.
Before I owned one of these mixers, I didn't even bother to make cookies with my children and I definitely never thought I would make bread dough ever again. Joint pain and discomfort in my hands, wrists and elbows prohibited virtually any cooking activities.
This product revolutionized my life and kitchen and enabled me to be an active baker once again. The price of the KitchenAid Accolade 400 varies, but can be purchased new on many sites throughout the Internet for about $300-$325. This may seem like a high price, but it was well worth it to me. It gave me back my freedom in the kitchen, and my family is once again enjoying dishes that no longer are straight from a freezer box!
There are other models of the KitchenAid mixers to choose from; I chose this particular mixer because it can be used with other attachments such as a juicer and meat grinder. It also comes with a 5 quart mixing bowl. If your needs are somewhat simpler, other less expensive quality-made KitchenAid mixers can be found for about $200.
Product Rating:
On a scale of 1-5, I give this particular item a 5. The price was reasonable to comparable mixers on the market, the KitchenAid reputation and their guarantee were excellent, and replacement parts and add-on accessories are easy to obtain both through your local store and online. Finally, ease of use, cleaning and changing of parts easily rank a 5 in my opinion.
